A native Texan, I received my Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Texas at Austin.  I am certified to teach grades 1-8, with an area of concentration in Reading.  I have a Gifted & Talented certification, an ELL certification, and a Physical Education certification(K-12).  I have numerous years of teaching experience in grades 1-5, with 27 of those years at the 4th grade level.  I coached one year @ Jack C. Hays High School and was a specialization coach for Austin Junior Volleyball Club for many years.

I believe my role as an educator is to provide a nurturing environment that enables each student to achieve mastery of TEKS,  develop reading comprehension, respond and reflect across all subject areas orally and in writing, encourage critical thinking and problem solving, in a community of learners that collaborate and support different learning styles  & abilities. I will incorporate the Mission Statement of DSISD:
